Sports Medicine

The Bard College Sports Medicine Staff is committed to providing the best possible health care system for Bard College student athletes. Physicians, athletic trainers, coaches and athletes all play an interactive role in establishing an effective operating system of prevention and care. Education takes a priority role for the professional staff, enabling them to stay current with techniques and equipment that will assist in attaining and supporting a safe and healthy playing environment for Bard College athletes.

Located in the Stevenson Gymnasium, the Bard College Sports Medicine facility is a full-service athletic training room designed to serve the medical needs of Bard College and visiting varsity athletes.

The taping and treatment areas can efficiently handle the preparation and treatment needs of the athletes. The treatment and evaluation section of the room includes one taping and three treatment tables. The modality inventory includes an ultrasound unit and a 4 channel electrical stimulation/ultrasound combination machine. There are also a hydrocollator heating unit and an extremity whirlpool located in the athletic training room. Adequate space for rehabilitation and conditioning of injured athletes is located in the main section of the athletic training room.

All prospective student athletes should contact the athletic trainer to schedule an appointment for a pre-participation physical, which must be completed by Bard College's team physician.
